The Museum's two-million-square-foot building has vast holdings that represent a series of collections, each of which ranks in its category among the finest in the world.

***The Frick Collection

The Frick Collection  - Photographe Richard diLibertoThis prestigious collection is found in the house of Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919), an important coal and steel businessman. The splendor of the premises, the sumptuous 18th century furniture, the tapestries and the Sèvre porcelains enhance the exceptional collection of great masters works of art.

Time needed to visit the collection: At least three hours.

Collections: Paintings from Rembrandt, Velázquez, Vermeer, Fragonard, Holbein, Titian, El Greco, Bellini, Poussin, etc. Drawings, sculptures, ancient furniture, porcelains, tapestries, ancient books.


** The Museum of Modern Art (MoMa)

The collection of the Modern Art Museum of New York began with a small donation of eight engravings and one drawing. Today, over 100,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, pictures and contemporary objects adorn the galleries of the MoMa. The library and the film archive of the museum have some 14,000 talking films, four million silent films and over 140,000 books.

Collections: Paintings and sculptures, architecture and design, drawings, films and videos, photographies and illustrations.


**Guggenheim Museum

In 1937 Salomon Guggenheim founded this museum and donated the abstract art collection he had accumulated since 1920. In 1976, Justin K. Thannhauser bequeathed his collection, which included masterpieces of Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, Edouard Manet, Picasso, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent van Gogh.

The Guggenheim Museum owns also one of the most important collections of Vasily Kandinsky, major masterpieces of Constantin Brancusi, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Robert Delaunay, Paul Klee, Joan Miró and many more great artists of the 20th century.


***American Museum of Natural History

One of the most important museums of natural history. It has over 40 rooms. The most spectacular themes are: technology shows about the Earth and Space, African mammals, biodiversity and the dinosaurs.
